Eco-Friendly Book Manufacturing Certified Eco-Friendly Book Manufacturing

WPC's Environmental Management System provides the framework to encourage and support our goal of operational excellence while embracing our commitment to the environment, along with the Chain-of-Custody Standards under the Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC®) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®). By integrating environmental management into our business plan and collaborating with our customers and suppliers, WPC seeks to use environmentally friendly materials which limit the environmental impact of these products throughout their life cycle from manufacturing to disposal.

Based on the materials used, your book can carry several indicias which guarantee it to be manufactured using the most current sustainable practices. An important factor to consider is where the paper comes from. The most eco-friendly option is stock derived from sustainable forests. We have achieved Chain-of-Custody (COC) certification through the Forest Stewardship Council ™ (FSC®) and Sustainable Forest Initiative® (SFI®). Chain-of-Custody is the path taken by raw materials harvested from a COC source through processing, manufacturing, distribution, and printing until it is a final product ready for sale to the consumer. We use soy-based inks, low-impact coatings, and a variety of materials made from post-consumer waste to aid in manufacturing the most environmentally-friendly book possible.

As part of our Environmental Management System, Worzalla fully complies with all applicable environmental legislation and regulation. We pledge to continuously improve upon measurable environmental performance objectives and to annually review and assess our Environmental Management System. We also have procedures in place that are proactive and responsive to all environmental situations and emergencies.

Additionally, we minimize (recycle, distill and/or thermally destroy) our waste materials and improve our energy efficiency. We further accept the responsibility to raise awareness, encourage participation and train our Associates in environmental matters.

Worzalla complies with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, which was enacted to protect children ages 12 and under from lead in toys.
